Please check in here to find out what’s happening at Birds of a Feather in Chestertown NY.  Workshops, events and happenings are not limited to the arts. Healing events and workshops will be offered as well.

Birds of a Feather Studio and Gallery is my studio,  and place for others to create and exhibit.  January 2023 we moved in and started to paint and fix it up.  It’s been going on a year and I am still here painting and teaching classes with other talented willing artists.

The hours change seasonally,  We are open now until the end of the year 2023 from Tuesday to Sunday 10-5:00.  I look forward to seeing you, stop by and let me know you checked out the site!  Sign up on the live calendar here or sign up in person at the Gallery.

Gelli Plate Printing is a wonderfully expressive and versatile hand printing technique that is done without a press. Prints can be created on a variety of papers and fabrics with acrylic paint or printing inks. This form of printmaking is suitable for all ages and levels of expertise. During this workshop participants will create single layer and multi-layer monotypes. Participants will use stencils, household items, and foliage to create beautiful textures and explore color to create opaque and transparent layers.

  • Betty Edwards taught that anyone can draw. In a very scientific way, she derived a way to understand the brain and how it works to understand its hindrances and gifts. I will take you through drawing excersizes based on her studies. All you need is the desire to try. You will need a sketchbook soft and hard leaded pencils ( B=soft H+hard),erasure and pencil sharpener. This will be a six week one and a half hour long class. Cost is $25 per class discounted to 100 if paid in full at beginning of class.

  • Mediation practices and techniques is a basic class starting where we are. We meet every Tuesday from 4-5:00 This basic gathering is knowing how to find the heart through meditation practice techniques. The drop in classes will help you find that peace that meditation offers, i call it “going home”, which is always there for you to take refuge in. As the Tao(dou), the ancient belief says that allowing and accepting life keeps you in the middle path called “the way” .I have been meditating since 2011 and truly believe it is a beautiful way to transform your present moment awareness.I am currently taking the mindful Meditation Teachers Certificate Program through the University of California at Berkely. I plan to follow the curriculum that I am learning and to help in the most difficult situations.
