Desire and Reality
Regional artist exhibition of oil paintings on panels at the Hyde Collection 1997
A personal journey using rooms of a house as a catalyst for self discovery and healing.
This body of work was a story about my own psychological excavation. I used the house and its rooms as metaphors to understanding my past and its apparent trauma causing ailments.
The work starts in the bathroom as a younger person. For some reason the bathroom was a safe zone for me. Family gravitated to the bathroom for comfort.
The symbolism is seen in the wall paper as well as the drains and areas of escape.
This body of work was selected by the Hyde Collection for a regional artists. The work went on to hang permanently at he S.U.N.Y. Adirondack.
